SUSPENSION REDUCED

(N.Z. Presi Ann —Copyright> MELBOURNE. The suspension of the "wrong way” jockey John Harding, for careless riding at Sandown on May 28, was reduced from three months to four weeks by the V.R.C. committee yesterday. The decision means that Harding will be able to resume riding at the Moonee Valley meetIng on Saturday, June 2S. Harding, aged 24, was suspended by V.A.T.C. stewards st Sandown after taking the wrong turn and missing the last two fences in the Shiliabeer Steeples on Dark Gleam. He appealed against the severity of the penalty. Sir Ross Grey Smith, chairman of the V.R.C., said that in future a jockey who had not taken the trouble to walk around or study the course on which he was riding would receive a greater penalty than three months’ suspension.
