What to tell your children about Sex. Prepared by the Child Study Association of America. George Allen and Unwin, 117 pp.
This straightforward, simply written book is intended to provide guidance and information for answering questions from children of any age from toddlers to teenagers. Each chapter starts with a group of the questions that may be asked, with answers that are in general lucid and adequate: then there is a section for the parent with additional inform ation and an outline of the general pattern of the child's physical and mental development at that stage. The tone is usually very realistic, e.g “When a child asks about the structure of his body or about babies, it’s human experience he’s interested in. To be answered with talk about bees and flowers is confusing—and an evasion of the truth.” Any parent who feels a little diffident will find this book helpful and encouraging.
