POLICE FOR CYPRUS

Departure In Fortnight (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 17. Eight policemen will leave for Cyprus on July 2 for service with the United Nations peace-keeping force. They are Inspector K. G. Sykes, of Auckland, who will lead the contingent, Senior Sergeant B. E. Wells, of Auckland, Sergeant E. Jones, of Palmerston North, Detective Constable A. E. Harris, of Christchurch, and Constables J. W. Burn, of Dargaville, G. H. Glossop, of Auckland, I. C. London, of Tauranga and C. G. Mackay, of Hastings. They will replace eight men, seven of whom have served for a year in Cyprus. They are Superintendent R. A. Moore, of New Plymouth, leader of the fourth contingent, who has served for six months, Sergeant P. J. Mears, of Wellington, Sergeant F. Clague-Christian, of Auckland, Detective Constable L. F. Beattie, of Auckland, and Constables R. J. Lloyd, of Wanganui, I. E. J. Munro, of Wellington, and G. C. Young and R. Knox, both of Auckland.
