HONOURS BOARD
Incentive For Apprentices The presence to the classroom of an honours board, which recorded the name of the annual South Island premier apprentice attending the painting and decorating classes at the Christchurch Technical Institute, would be an incentive for the boys, the deputy-chairman of the institute’s board of governors (Mr J. G. Johnston) told the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Guild of Master Painters, Decorators and Signwriters. The honours board was presented to the institute at the meeting by the president of the guild (Mr R. E. Falktogham) on behalf of the South Island guilds. The principal of the institute (Mr D. W. Lyall) thanked the guilds, and spoke of the excellent progress the apprentices were making. He expressed his appreciation to the employers for the dose interest they were taking to the apprentices’ welfare and training.
