Pit Stops
Bruce McLaren won the Mosport 200-mile sports car race in Canada recently. The previous week he won a sports car race at St. Jovite. Both victories were in McLaren-Elvas. At Mosport Chris Amon was fighting for second place, but had to stop for a new wheel and dropped to tenth.
T. J. Chick (TalbotDarracq) won the Vintage Car Club’s Irishmans Creek rally at Queen’s Birthday weekend. R. J. Hassel (Bently) was second. The 440-mile event attacted 12 cars. sk sk The American driver, A. J. Foyt, suffered burns when he crashed a LotusFord while practising for a 100-mile race in Milwaukee recently. The car was the one in which Jim Clark took second place at Indianapolis. * * * The Vintage Car Club’s recent all-day trial was won by W. R. -R. Bryson (Ford), with N. T. King (Austin) second and R. B. Scott (Mini Minor) third. * * Phil Hill and J. Bonnier won the Nurburgring 1000 kilometres race in a Chaparral. The American-built car was fitted with an automatic trasmission. Ferraris were second and third, a Porsche was fourth, and a Ford G.T. was fifth. The works Fords did not compete.
