VAUXHALL VISCOUNT

y/AUXHALL has announced a new model based on the Cresta range—the, Vauxhall Viscount. The Viscount is said to be the safest and most luxurious model yet produced by Vauxhall. The Viscount has automatic transmission and power steering as standard, together with power-operated windows and additional sound insulation.

All other luxury features, such as heater, face-level ventilation, reversing lights and screenwashers are also fitted. The electric buttons for the four windows are mounted on a console over the transmission tunnel, where they are in reach of either the driver or the front passenger. Switches on the rear doors allow independent control of the rear windows. The individual front seats are reclining, and all seats are upholstered in leather. Walnut tables fold down from the backs of the front seats, and map pockets are fitted to the front doors. Personal reading lights are provided

in the rear compartment, and electric demisting is built into the rear window. The rear compartment has a separate heater outlet, and standard equipment includes a map-reading light, an electric clock and a cigarette lighter. Automatic lights are fitted in the engine compartment and boot and the fuel filler is lockable. The engine is the normal Vauxhall 3.3 litre straight six, which produces 140 b.h.p. at 4800 r.p.m. A four-speed manual gearbox with floor change is optional equipment. Inertia-reel seat belts are fitted to the front seats.
