Won Pairs Title

“The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL.

Canterbury gained a signal triumph at the national indoor bowls championships in Invercargill yesterday when A. E. Williamson’s pair won the national pairs’ title. Williamson and his partner, R. J. Watkin, defeated the Auckland pair led by A. Rasmussen, 18-10, in a final which was considerably closer than the score suggests. Only three Canterbury teams reached the final 32, those led by Mrs A. Warden, J. Duncan and Williamson. Williamson was the only one to play in the last few matches.

Matches in the national rinks championship, for fours, will begin this morning.
