Most Titles Won By Avonside
Avonside players secured a majority of the titles at the 1966 Canterbury lower grade table tennis championships, which ended last evening.
B. Roskilley (Avonside) won all three C grade titles, the only player to make a clean sweep in any of the six sections at the championships. B. Walker (Wallabies) won the A Reserve singles title from R. McLaughlan (Eagles) after an extremely close match. Walker was well down in the third and final game, but fought back well to win it, 21-19. However, McLaughlan had his revenge in the doubles when he combined with R. Innes to beat Walker and M. Tonkin in another three-game contest. B.N.Z. did well in the D grade sections, winning the singles and doubles titles. Results of finals were:— A RESERVE Singles.—B. Walker (Wallabies) beat R McLaughlan (Eagles), 16-21, 21-15. 21-19.
