DAMAGE AT CENTRE

Admissions By Youth (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 15. Damage to the extent of £2B was caused to the Display Centre in Wellington on May 30 after Denis Edward Mott, aged 18, unemployed, and another youth had broken in, Mr M. B. Scully, S.M., was told today. Mott pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering. Sergeant A. H. Colegrave said Mott and his companion went to the food and wine centre where they cooked themselves a meal. Several bottles of wine were drunk.

Afterwards they went through the centre tipping food and liquor over the carpets and floor before search-, ing desks. The contents were strewn over the floor. They removed all the articles from two display cabinets, put them in boxes, and left them outside to be taken away later.

Property worth £lOl 15s 6d was stolen of which only £47 worth had been recovered. Mott was remanded until June 22 for sentence.
