COMMERCIAL Market Again Lifts On Higher Turn-over

Heavier turn-over in yesterday’s trading pushed the market up further with rises outnumbering falls by 26 to 16 over-all. Overseas stocks not only held the gains of the day before but improved further, although this list was not so busy.

Key stocks led the advance in the New Zealand list. Bank of N.Z. Finance again featured and rose a further 3d to Ils. General Foods continued moving purposefully upward, rising 3d to 15s 9d—a new peak for the year. Dominion Breweries at 17s Id, Ballins at 12s 3d, J. Wattie at 18s 9d, and N.Z. Forest Products at 24s each added Id.

National Insurance continued its slide and lost 3d to 22s and Motor Holdings fell 3d to 13s 6d. Hay’s, at 18s 6d, and Whitcombe and Tombs, at 17s 3d, each lost 3d. Mount Isa, against its home market trend, gained 6d to 37s 6d and B.H.P. added 3d to regain its year’s peak of 51s 6d.
