NOT POPULAR?
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON.
The touring British Isles Rugby team was not popular socially in New Zealand so far, “The Times” correspondent reported from Timaru.
It was possible that was worrying the team managers more than the Combined team in Timaru. The Lions, largely, had themselves to blame.
“A recent message hinted at immaturity and this impression, unfortunately, has been borne
out, although it is hoped that severe discipline will not be necessary. “The locals, with some justification, think the Lions are not prepared to mix with them, and the party have sometimes deserved criticism of their
manners. “This is probably the result of inexperience, and let us hope the wiser members will impress on the others that the tour is more than a glorified
village outing, and help the management and captain with more responsible behaviour.”
