VIEW OF SENATOR

Apartheid Weakens (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NAIROBI, June 15. Senator Robert Kennedy said last night that an economic boom in South Africa was breaking down the social structure of apartheid. In a question-and-answer interview programme on television, he said that coloureds (mixed race) and Africans were taking on jobs formerly reserved for whites and were being well paid.

Asked if Africans in the republic would support a boycott of South Africa, Mr Kennedy said: “They would oppose it at the moment because of this very same reason.

“The boom is bringing prosperity to their country and to themselves. And because of it, many apartheid rules are breaking down.”
