SHARP ’QUAKE Solomons ‘Fright’
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HONIARA (British Solomon Islands Protectorate), June 15. Severe earth tremors, two lasting as long as a minute, rocked Honiara this afternoon. Houses shook, but no injuries or damage were reported. Many people said they had been given a “very bad fright” and a “nasty feeling," the Australian Associated Press correspondent reported. No information on the centre of the earthquake was immediately available in Honiara. But news reports from the United States said a “major” earthquake, probably somewhere in the Pacific, was recorded at 1.12 p.m. New Zealand time.
