S.O.S. Society
Sir,—l wonder if your readers would be interested to know that they can help a voluntary organisation Britain by simply tearing one corner off any envelopes they receive and sending me the used stamps. The S.O.S. Society, which was founded by “Woodbine Willie,” the famous padre of the First World War, has to find a large sum of money each year to help maintain its mental and social rehabilitation centres, homes for elderly people, hostels for boys, and housing for some of the unfortunate misfits of the community; and anyone
can assist us to continue and expand this work by sending stamps. We are happy to acknowledge all stamps received and would be pleased to send information about the society’s work to anyone who may be interested.—Yours, JACK OAKLEY. Deputy Secretary. 14 Culford Gardens, London, 5.W.3, May 6, 1966.
