Appeal To Register

To avoid a last-minute rush, vehicle-owners in Christchurch and district have been urged to re-register their vehicles as soon as possible. The Post Office reported yesterday that there were still 77,000 vehicles to be reregistered in the remaining 12 days before the end of June.

This meant that motor registration officials would have to handle 6500 registrations a day to have every vehicle re-registered before the end of the month.

More owners are using the postal registration system than in previous years. So far, 1319 vehicles have been re-registered by mail this year, compared with 386 for the same period last year.
