GIFT FROM METHVEN

Disused Church For Spreydon

A church, complete with pews, carpet and organ, has been given to the Anglican parish of Spreydon-Hoon Hay by the parish of Methven. Hearing that Spreydon-Hoon Hay required a church, as its services are held in a small hall, the Methven parish decided to present it with the now disused church at Highfield. The only condition is that the new owners arrange the church’s removal to its new site.

Providing seating for 120, the church is of kauri, and was built during the development of the hydroelectric power station at Highfield. It will be moved when approval is granted by the City CouhcU. *
