PENSION CUT PROTEST
Threat To Crown Prince
(N.Z. Preu Astn—Copyright) LONDON, June 13. An unemployed German worker has been arrested for allegedly planning to asssasainato Crown Prince Hans Adam of Liechtenstein because the worker’s unemployment pension in Germany had been cut by 50 per cent, the “Sunday Express” reported. “Police say that Helmut Besch, 47, an unemployed German from Villingen, near Strasbourg, angry at the cut, left home early this month then wrote to his wife: ‘I am a very bitter man, and want to draw attention to this pension scandal by assassinating a prominent European personality. Then I will kill myself,’” the “Sunday Express” reported. “Inquiries by security officers in Vaduz, capital of Liechtenstein, soon established that a German motorist had been asking if 21-year-old Crown Prince Hans Adam would be taking part in a religious procession last week. “The Crown Prince and his family were warned and security guards kept watch during the procession and a* a church service afterwards.” “They had just led the Crown Prince through a side door of the church when they noticed a blue car parked 200 yards away. Police rushed the car and found Besch at the wheel. They seized him as he grabbed a revolver from the glove box. "Besch later admitted he had ‘planned to do something to a royal personage,’” the paper reported.
