TRIBUTES TO MEMBER

Tributes to the late Mr R. J. Roberts, a member of the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board at the time of his death, were paid by the chairman (Mr W. A, Newton) and other members of the board at its monthly meeting yesterday. Mr Newton said he wished to place on record “the wonderful contribution made to the board, the staff, and consumers,” by Mr Roberts. “His outstanding personality has always been a feature of his dealings in power board business and in his approach to people and their problems. At no time did he spare himself to see that things ran smoothly. Everyone got a fair deal. He was a perfect example of service above self.” Mr L. P. Manion was welcomed as the new member of the board representing the Paparua County Council.
