Agrippa Back In Work
This season’s Champagne Stakes winner, Agrippa, rejoined J. L. Barr’s Riccarton stable yesterday. Mr H. D. Greenwood’s Agricola gelding will be prepared for spring racing, and perhaps a New Zealand Derby start at the New Zealand Cup meeting in November. Since Easter, Agrippa has been spelling on his owner’s property at Amberley, Hamadan and Caprino were also returned to work yesterday. The former, after an unsuccessful summer campaign, was put out to spell after the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting in February. She should be ready to race by the time her Ashburton owner, Mr C. M. Fleming, returns from a business trip overseas Caprino has been off the scene since the Wellington spring meeting last October. There he bled during the running of the October Handicap. Caprino. a five-year-old Le Filou gelding which won two races last season for Mr D. W. J. Gould, chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Club, has been leased to J. L. Barr and Mrs W. R. Carston. He was formerly trained by J. C. Tomkinson.
