£5809 Now Red Cross Total
The total from the Red Cross appeal last Friday had now reached £5809. said the president of the North Canterbury centre of the society (Mrs R. I. Blake) on Monday evening. Of this, £2900 was from the street collection. “We are well on the way to reaching or passing last year's total of £5899,” she said, expressing gratitude for the public's response. About six street boxes had yet to come in, and donations from sub-centres and firms usually continued for some time, Mrs Brake said.
