Welshmen Welcomed

Representative of the Cambrian Society of Canterbury dressed in national costume welcomed members of the Welsh Rugby Sportsmen's Club when they arrived at Christchurch Airport on Friday. The group was later entertained at Shirley Lodge by the society. A letter of good will from the Mayor of Cardiff was presented to the society, together with a book on Cardiff, a “Welsh Rugby” magazine and a recording of songs made by the club. The party, all Rugby enthusiasts, later travelled by air to Invercargill for the first match of the Lions’ in New Zealand. Led by Mr Stuart Weaving, editor of “Welsh Rugby” the party comprises 11 South Wales businessmen, five with their wives.
