Favourite Shot

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter) DURBAN. The trainer, S. Laird, has promised that Sea Cottage, South Africa’s most valuable racehorse, will run in the July Handicap although the horse was shot in the off hind leg by a sniper on Friday. Laird said the injury was hardly noticeable when the horse walked. “Exce-y’r say his improvement has been fantastic,” he said. Unprecedented moves have been taken to cancel betting if he is scratched. Police suspect a highly organised gang was behind the shooting. One man has already been arrested and police say tfaera could be more arrests.
