Bid Succeeds In Blenheim

Transport (Nelson) Holdings is to take over Marlborough Transport. The general manager of Transport (Nelson) (Mr D. McPherson) said this afternoon that shareholders of the Mirlborough company had registered an 80 per cent acceptance of the second offer of 45s cash for every ordinary share. When the directors of Transport (Nelson) Holdings made their original offer of the cash equivalent of 37s 6d a share, they expressed a wish for a 90 per cent shareholding in Marlborough Transport. Mr McPherson said that his directors had, however, decided to take oyer the Marlborough company after the 80 per cent acceptance. The Nelson company’s second offer is still open for the 20 per cent of the shareholding outstanding. Mr McPherson said he did not expect there would be any staff alterations in Marlborough Transport.
