t.VZ. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEWCASTLE.

A disputed try and the sending off of the second-row man, W. Ramsey, were features of Britain’s 5-2 victory over Newcastle in their Rugby League match today. On a muddy field the sprint champion, B. Jones, ran 65 yards after receiving the ball from the hooker. P. Flanagan, who was well off-side. Flanagan had been among Newcastle players when the ball was played and when allowed to run with it after intercepting he quickly passed to Jones, who was unmarked on the right wing. Jones raced downfield, clear of the opposition, to dive over for the only try of the game after 68 minutes of play. Earlier, the full-back, A. Keegan, had kicked a firsthalf penalty goal and B. Warby had kicked a penalty goal for Newcastle before halftime. Ramsey, who had been cautioned twice, was ordered from the field five minutes before the finish.

He swung a stiff-arm tackle at Warby but missed him. The tourists were frequently

off-side when the ball was being played and in the first half penalties went against them. IM. In the second half penalties were 10-4 to Newcastle, making 26-8 for the match. Newcastle won the scrums, 14-12. Most of the play was confined to the forwards. T. Fogerty had his best match of the tour. Keegan failed badly with his goal-kicking with the heavy ball, but his general play was excellent and he saved what seemed a certain try when the Newcastle wing. J. Perry broke clear and made a long run.
