Player Too Enthusiastic

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) PARIS. D. Eon, goalkeeper for the French soccer champions, Nantes, is out of the French World Cup team for which he was selected last Monday —because of over-enthusiasm. Eon was so happy at seeing his friend P. Gondet score his thirty-sixth goal this season—a total never reached before in the French championship—during a match against Cannes on Saturday night that he made a fantastic leap into the air. There was a sharp pain. A doctor told Eon yesterday he had pulled a tendofl in his left leg. Surgery and plaster wiff be needed and Eon will be out of action for three months.

Rally Winn.rs.—G. Staepelaere and A. Aerts of Belgium won the 1966 three-day Geneva International car rally in a Ford Cortina, according to early results. Only 34 out of 62 starters completed the course.
