A Matter Of Value

(New Zealand Press Association)

AUCKLAND, June 12. In the world of small boys it seems that one “Miss New Zealand” is worth an All Black or a Lion, at least on paper. Pupils of Dilworth School were quick to realise the possible trading value of the signature of this year’s national beauty title winner, Miss Heather Gettings, when she visited the school on Saturday. There to watch her 13-year-old brother, David, playing football for the school, she spent so much time hunched over scraps of paper, hurriedly torn from exercise books, that she hardly had time to watch the battle on the field. Why the interest in the autographs? “Well, I reckon I’ll be able to trade one for an AH Black or maybe a Lion in the next few days,” said one pupil. Why did he need several copies? “Oh, that’s in case there’s

a bit of a shortage. I might need two of these to get one All Black or a Ison.”
