TOWN HALL DESIGN

Judging Begun Judges of the Christchurch town hall competition have arrived in the city, and judging of the last phase started yesterday. The professional adviser, Mr R. C. Muston, of Wellington, and Mr E. J. McCoy, of Dunedin, arrived yesterday. The other judges are Mr A. de Lisle, of Hamilton; Cr. H. G. Hay, chairman of the City Council's town hall committee; and Mr G. D. Griffiths, a Christchurch architect.

A special room has been set aside for them at the Durham Street Art Gallery. The quantity surveyor, Mr C. Toomey, of Wellington, is expected to finish checking the costs involved in the five final designs today. He started the task last Tuesday. Early next month there will be a public exhibition in 'he gallery of the 58 original entries, including the final five. A new campaign for funds for the hall is expected to be started at the same time.
