RICCARTON SPEEDS

Protest From Resident A denial that he had suggested the speed limit in Riccarton road should be increased to 35 miles an hour was made by Cr. R. S. Lester, when the Riccarton Borough Council last night received a letter of protest from Mr D. Copley, of Irvine street. Cr. Lester said his suggestion referred to the speed limit in certain built-up roads, Blenheim road in particular. He was sorry that the correspondent had misread the report from the previous month’s meeting. Mr Copley’s main objection was that the danger to school children would be increased if speed limits were raised.
