RADIOS IN NORMAN
Customs Haul Worth £2600 €N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 13. One of their biggest hauls of transistor radios was made by Auckland Customs officials today. A total of 225 radios, estimated to be worth £2600, was discovered in a hold of the British freighter Norman, which arrived on Sunday afternoon from Hong Kong. The transistors were in cargo disguised as a general shipment for Christchurch. Boarding inspectors became suspicious on Sunday night when a man, thought to be a member of the crew, was seen running around the back of the passenger terminus at Prince’s wharf where he threw a parcel Into the harbour. The parcel, recovered by a diver this morning, contained two radios.
