Ghana Seeks Extradition (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 13. London’s High Court has refused an application by Ghana’s former Minister of Trade, Mr Kwesi Armah, for a habeas corpus writ to release him from gaol. He has been in Brixton Prison, South-east London, since May 19 when a Magistrate’s Court found that he had a case to answer for alleged extortion and corruption in Ghana. Mr Armah denied the charges. The Home Secretary, Mr Roy Jenkins, is responsible for deciding whether Mr Armah should be extradited to Ghana to face trial. The Ghanaian Government has asked for his extradition under the Fugitive Offenders’ Act.
Longer Mandate. The United Nations SecretaryGeneral, U Thant, recommended to the Security Council yesterday to extend the mandate of its peace-keeping force in Cyprus for a further six months —until Christmas Day.—New York, June 13.
