Bankrupt Meets Creditors
“Years of frustration and worry” because of the illness and extravagance of his first wife which led to “a near fatal heart attack” were the background to his bankruptcy, Maurice James Costello, 60 Rahera street,. Christchurch, said in his statement at a meeting of creditors yesterday. Costello declared he owed unsecured creditors £652 7s 6d, and had no assets. Under his father’s will he would receive a half share in a house at his mother’s death. Costello produced a medical certificate that he was medically unfit to work. He had been in hospital during February and March, and hoped to be able to do something tangible for his creditors when his health improved. Mr Withers formally closed the meeting.
