TESTS IN PACIFIC
‘Tahitians Not Worried 9 (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, June 12. Tahitians appeared unconcerned by the pending French nuclear tests on Muroroa, near Tahiti, a Gisborne solicitor, Mr C. Chauvel, said today. Mr Chauvel returned recently from a visit to Tahiti. The most obvious sign that the tests were imminent was the presence in Tahiti of many ships of the French Navy, together with troops and technicians.
