Robin Dundee Not Leased To U.S.
(New Zealand Press Association) ' INVERCARGILL. New Zealand’s champion pacing mare, Robin Dundee, has not been, leased to America.
Widespread reports last week said that Robin Dundee had been leased to America for £50,000 and would be mated with a top American sire when she finished racing. The reports were denied yesterday by the connexions of Robin Dundee, who said no immediate move, and certainly no price, to take Robin Dundee to America, had been discussed.'
“The reports that have been published and broadcast are definitely incorrect,” Mrs J. W. Hewitt, of Mataura Island, said yesterday. She said her husband, who raced Robin Dundee, and who had been on holiday in the
North Island, had heard the reports. He telephoned his home to say that he had not discussed Robin Dundee’s future racing while away, and it appeared that “someone’s imagination has run riot” Mr Hewitt set plans for Robin Dundee some months ago and has not yet had occasion to change them. He intends to race her in the next New Zealand Trotting Cup—a race in which she has already finished second twice—and to campaign her at the Inter-Dominion Championship series in Perth next February.
If Robin Dundee holds her form at the Perth series an American trip might then be .entertained.
