Equipment to be maintained includes: COMMUNICATIONS (for both aircraft control and point-to-point services) which consist of H.F. and V.H.F. transmitting and receiving equipment, V.H F. and microwave links, machine printing equipment, semi-automatic torn tape telegraphic switching centres, radio teletype transmission and reception, including automatic error correction equipment, single and independent side-band transmitters and receivers. NAVIGATIONAL AND LANDING AIDS: Surveillance radars, distance measuring equipments, V.H.F. direction-finding sets, V.H.F. omni-ranges valve and solid state navigational beacons, precision approach radars, instruments landing systems. METEOROLOGICAL WIND-FINDING AND WEATHER RADARS: Radiosonde receiving and recording equipment, cloud ceilometers. Miscellaneous equipment includes pen recorders, multi-track tape recorders, facsimile equipment. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: First-class certificate in Radio Technology (or acceptable equivalent) with several years’ recent experience working on electronic equipment. Applicants who have been continuously engaged on electronic work for a number of years, but lack the C.R.T. will be considered in special cases and undergo a course of instruction at the Department’s Aeronautical College at Christchurch GENERAL: Appointees will be given Special Equipment courses at Christchurch as required. There are opportunities for service overseas, where housing is provided. Housing is also available at some New Zealand locations. SALARY: On appointment up to £llO5 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.
