POWERFUL SUPPORT
Muslims Back Sukarno
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA June 9. President Sukarno has received powerful support in his efforts to retain the Presidency of Jndonesia.
According to the official Antara news agency, the big conservative Muslim Party, Nahdatul Ulama, will support President Sukarno.
Antara was quoting the party’s general chairman, Mr K. H. Waham Hasbullah, who was speaking in Surabaya. In West Java and Sumatra, there have been student calls for elections in which presidential and vice-presidential candidates should be the former vice-president, Dr. Mohammed Hatta, General Nasution, deputy chief of the “Crush Malaysia Command” and Sultan Hamengku Buwono, Deputy Premier in charge of Finance.
