COMMERCIAL Cautious End To Week On Stock Exchanges
Trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday ended cautiously with the market just about in balance. Turnover was moderate, although a wider range of issues changed hands. Australian turn-over was again high.
There were 18 rises and 17 falls in the New Zealand list, key issues being slightly better than average. Alliance at 10s and 1.C.1.N.Z. at 19s 6d each recovered 3d, while General Foods at 14s lid, J. Wattie new at 18s 4d, and United Empire Box at 10s 4d each gained Id. New Zealand Insurance continued its slide to lose Id more in sales at 21s 7d. Woolworths, New Zealand, lost 2d to sell at Ils 9d.
In a steady overseas list 1.C.1.A.N.Z. at 35s 9d and Mount Isa at 36s 3d each gained 9d. Waltons rose 3d to 9s Id and Email Id to 3s 6d. Ampol shares and 1967 notes continued to decline, Myer lost 5d to 25s 7d and Woolworths 2d to 11s lid.
