The French sculptor and painter, Jean Arp, died from a heart attack in a Basle hospital this morning. He was 78. Arp was considered a leading exponent of abstract art. His works include sculptures, reliefs and paintings in private collections and museums in Europe, America and Japan. He also contributed reliefs to the' U.N.E.S.C.O. building in Paris. He published several books of French and German poetry.
