SPECIAL PERMIT
Ray Columbus Going To U.S.
“The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 10.
The pop singer, Ray Columbus, will go to the United States early next month. His manager, Mr Russell Clark, said Columbus, who had been granted a special work permit, would stay for an indefinite period depending on how he was accepted by the American public. Mr Clark said it was the first time such a permit had been granted to a New Zealand or Australian artist. Columbus will be accompanied by his wife and baby. Negotiations with an American agent had been under way since Columbus’s golden award winning record “Till We Kissed” was described in an American show business magazine, “Billboard,” as a best bet.
Injured Wrist.—The Northland half-back, S. Going, has broken a bone in a wrist and is not expected to play Rugby again for at least a month.
