Auckland May Face Petrol Shortage
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 10. Auckland could be faced with a serious shortage of petrol and oil early next week.
Tanker drivers will make no deliveries tomorrow or Sunday and may decide to continue their ban until Tuesday.
Late today there was no sign of a settlement between the 120 drivers and the five oil companies. The drivers want increased wages and other payments. The secretary of the Northern Drivers’ Union (Mr G. H. Andersen) said the drivers would meet at 7.30 a.m. on Monday to discuss when a stoppage would take place next week and how long it would last
