DEVELOPING OF LAND

(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 9. The development of nine acres of land adjacent to the Evans Bay patent slip for high density housing costing over £2 million has been initiated by the Wellington Harbour Board. The land will be reserved for the construction of blocks containing 366 flats for a total of 1450 persons. There will also be parking facilities for about 400 cars.

Cr. E. R. Toop said that “This is a conception of development that has, in principle, been approved by the harbour board for submission to the Wellington City Council. “The plans envisaged are for high density of land use, which appears to the board to be suitable to this particular area,” he said.

“If the council approves the scheme the board will investigate the steps necessary for private enterprise to implement the proposals.”
