President Of Centre
THE president of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Association is Mr W. J. Lundie, who farms 888 acres of hill country at Prices Valley on Banks Peninsula. Now in his third term as centre president Mr Lundie has been a delegate to the centre for about 20 years. He first tried his hand at trialing 30 years ago at the Fairlie show when he won a second place. Between 1936 and 1939 he was mustering in the Wanaka, Hawea, Makarora and Waitaki areas and since 1939, with the exception of some of the war years when trials were not held, he has been trialing practically every season. A regular competitor at South Island and New Zealand championship trials in recent years, he was placed in the South Island hunt and slew with Bert at Wanaka and he won the same class with Tip at a Canterbury championship at Geraldine. Mr Lundie managed a family property at Sherwood Downs in the war years and then farmed it on his own account from 1946 to 1960 before moving to his present property in 1960. For nine years he was secretary of the Mackenzie Collie Dog Club.
