TRANSFER AT SEA

Sick Sailor In Small Boat (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 9. A seriously ill sailor was transferred from one Navy ship to another off Cape Reinga today for a dash to hospital at Whangarei. The minesweeper Kiama is due to land the sailor at Whangarei at 8 a.m. tomorrow. An ambulance will be standing by.

A naval officer at Devonport was unable to name the sick sailor, but said he was suffering from acute appendicitis.

He is a member of the crew of the minesweeper Inverell, one of the ships in the search for the wreck of the collier Kaitawa.

The officer said the transfer from the Inverell to the Kaima was made in a small boat.

After putting the sick man ashore the Kiama will return to Cape Reinga.
