RIOTS IN DACCA
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DACCA (East Pakistan), June 9. Police patrolled the streets yesterday as Dacca recovered from the effects of the previous day’s general strike and riots in which 11 persons died. Students waving black flags to condemn police action during the riots paraded through the Dacca University area yesterday, but the Government said the situation in Dacca and in the rest of the province was peaceful. The general strike called to back demands for provincial autonomy and a greater share ol development funds, turned into riots.
Police opened fire twice in a day of burning, stoning and rioting in Dacca and the nearby industrial city of Narayaganj.
