AUCKLAND, June 8. , There was no work today at the Otahuhu freezing works of R. and W. Hellaby, Ltd., where three men were overcome by ammonia fumes yesterday morning.

The 1000 employees met this morning to lay down certain conditions for preventing ammonia fumes escaping in future. , The employees all went [home after the meeting. This afternoon the company’s safety consultant and , a representative from the 1 Labour Department inspected the safety systems in the 1 works. The secretary of the Auckland Freezing Workers’ Union, Mr T. Kelly, said it was hoped to have reports ifrom them for another work■ers’ meeting at 8 a.m. tomorrow. The freezing workers want alarm and exit facilities improved before they return to work. Only essential duties have been done at the works since the ammonia leak.
