First Batch Released

South Africa yesterday released the first batch of the about 10,000 prisoners to be freed under a Government amnesty granted to celebrate South Africa’s fifth anniversary as a Republic. It applies mainly to shortterm prisoners, but does not extend to political prisoners or anyone whose early release would be considered not in the public interact
