Unemployment In U.S.— Unemployment in the United States jumped from 3.7 to 4 per cent last month, the biggest monthly increase for a year, the Labour Department announced today. The total number of unemployed rose by 140,000 to 2,900,000 during May. The increase was due mainly to a large number of high school students seeking jobs.—Washington June 6.
