Mao’s Health
Sir, —Every now and then the dally papers feature news of Mao Tse-tung’s illness, and make quite a long story about counter-revolutions. This is all wishful thinking. Chairman Mao is in good health and likely to be for a year or so until age catches up with him. Recently he appeared in public for the visit of the Albanian delegation. The strength of China lies in her communes, and all the commune members love Chairman Mao. The bourgoise tendencies of certain intellectuals is in striking contrast with the mass thinking in China. This is all part of the 12-year plan begun in 1956 to narrow the gap between mental and manual worker, between town and country, and between peasant and worker. There is a tremendous educational socialist revolution going on.—Yours, etc., P.J.A. June 8, 1966.
