Lending Charge

(Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. June 7. A charge that members of the Opposition had been lending money at 8 per cent was made in Parliament tonight by Mr G. F. Sim (Govt., Piako) —and heatedly denied by Opposition members. Later Mr Sim obtained permission to make an explanation. He quoted the “New Zealand Mercantile Gazette” of June, 1960, that Mr J. W. Cowley, of Avonhead road, a milk vendor, owed M. B. Howard a four-figure sum of money.

There were further Opposition objections.
