FLIGHTS TO LONDON

Addition By 8.0.A.C. Both easterly and westerly routes from New Zealand to London will be offered by the British Overseas Airways Corporation when it starts three services each week from London across the United States to the South Pacific early next year.

It was expected that New Zealand would later be the destination of some flights, a 8.0.A.C. spokesman said in Auckland. Sydney would be the initial destination and existing 8.0.A.C. services from Auckland to Fiji would provide connexions in the meantime.

Rolls-Royce Boeing 707’s will be used on the new services, which will be within the terms of the Anglo-Ameri-can bilateral agreement announced recently.

8.0.A.C. was also examining the resumption of a Lon-don-Los Angeles service by way of Chicago, but this was only in the very early planning stage, the spokesman said.

With the trans-Pacific link, 8.0.A.C. would be in the unique position of having round-the-world routes in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
