BRISBANE CUP
Apa Draws Well (NZ. Press Assn. — Copyright/ BRISBANE. The fancied New Zealand stayer, Apa, drew a favourable No. 3 barrier draw for the NZ£BOOO Brisbane Cup to be run at Eagle Farm on Monday, when final acceptances and the draw were made yesterday. Apa, which has made some amends for his previous poor Australian form since coming to Brisbane, is regarded as having a good chance in the two-mile cup, and is currently second favourite at 6/1. Apa's Otaki stablemate. Hermaion, which has shown no form since crossing the Tasman, did not accept for the big race. The former top New Zealand three-year-old Empyreus. is still well-fancied, and is at 10/1 in the early market, on the same line as last- year’s Caulifield Cup winner, Bore Head.
There were 15 final accep tors for the Cup, which is the second leg of the big Brisbane winter double to be run over the Queen’s Birthday holiday week-end.
